Retail

Note: Due to the pandemic, BOMA didn’t conduct a retail survey in 2021.

The presence of a healthy retail sector in the CBD is vital to the long term growth of the area. Residents, employees, and visitors alike need the opportunity to make local purchases in order to make downtown an attractive place to live, work and play.

BOMA conducted its bi-annual retail survey in the summer of 2018.

The number of square feet devoted to retail continued to grow, increasing from 1,268,094 in 2016 to 1,350,427 in 2018.

The number of retailers dropped from 288 to 284.

Looking at the specific category of Restaurant/Bar, the total space increased as a percentage of the total from 25.38% to 29.17%.

Retail establishments in this category also increased from 117 in 2016 to 129 in 2018.
