Retail in Downtown Saint Paul
The presence of a healthy retail sector in the CBD is vital to the long term growth of the area. Residents, employees and visitors alike need the opportunity to make local purchases in order to make downtown an attractive place to live, work and play.
BOMA first conducted a retail survey in 2014 and is committed to continue this research on a bi-annual basis. With the 2016 survey now complete, the retail space increased by almost 9%. This growth is evident in the many new restaurants that have opened in the downtown area since in the past two years.
We chose to include only businesses that had street level or skyway access. Building locations are presented in bold.
In addition to retail establishments, the lodging options in downtown continue to expand. With the addition of the Hyatt in the Custom House and the opening of the Hampton Inn as part of the Oxbo project, total rooms will break 1,800 before the end of the year.
